At the Museum

In 2001, the Society assumed ownership of the former Fairwater public school and completed its roofing, heating, and electrical projects to preserve the building for use as an area history museum and research center.

Museum Schedule for 2009
The museum is open on Saturdays throughout the summer months. Visitors can also view exhibits and restoration work by special arrangement with Cirena Lenz (920-398-3674).

Museum Restoration
Work planned for 2009 includes continuing work in the museum basement rooms. Efforts to document original structural detail and building finishes and to locate interior photographs are ongoing.

Museum Development
Efforts to add to the society's collections and to develop exhibits are ongoing.

Veterans' Exhibit
The Society has designated the museum's Fairbanks Room, the former primary division classroom, as the location for permanent exhibits devoted to Fairwater area veterans. The society welcomes additional photographs and other items related to Fairwater's veterans.

Oral History Collection
The Society's oral history project continues to be a priority. In addition to its goal to add recordings to the collection, the Society has begin the transcription of its completed interviews.
