A village of 800 inhabitants, located on the N. div. C., M. & St. P. Ry, in Metomen
township, Fond du Lac county, 16 miles southwest of Fond du Lac, the county seat and 76
northwest of Milwaukee. It has 4 churches, a graded public school, Odd Fellows' hall,
capable of seating 300, a sleigh and 2 carriage factories, a butter tub factory, 2 grain
elevators, planing mill, cheese factory, a harrow and land roller factory, 2 creameries, a
cold storage warehouse, a bank and a live weekly newspaper, the Brandon Times. There are
several quarries in the vicinity, which yield a superior quality of granite. Telephone
