THE DODGE COUNTY
FAIR
Brandon Times, September 14, 1899
One of the many attractions for
the Great Dodge county fair at Beaver Dam, Sept. 26 to 29, is a Balloon and Parachute
Race, two balloons and two parachutes every day during the fair, both ballons are to be
inflated and leave the grounds at the same time, each parachute carries an aeronaut, they
race several hundred feet in the air, the parachutes cut loose from the balloon at the
same time and race to the grounds.
In the evening an illuminated night ascension will be made from front stret,
the mamoth 80 foot balloon is inflated with a Roaring Giant Gasoline Inflator, that makes
a roar like a cyclone, shooting a giant blaze 30 feet. The balloon is illuminated with red
fire and like a great blazing globe floats into the sky where the aeronaut discharges
hundreds of roman candles and other fireworks sending fiery meteors in all directions,
making one of the grandest sights ever witnessed. The great exhibition is to take place
every evening during the fair. |
