HEATING THE SCHOOL HOUSE
Brandon Times, February 9, 1899

Considerable comment is being heard upon the heating of the school house. Chief among the troubles is the lack of ability to warm the rooms. Different reasons have been advanced but the chief reason seems to be the using of soft coal in the furnaces. The coal burns very fast, at the rate, these cold days of from 3 to 4 tons a day. The board are thinking of changing to hard coal which will warm the rooms without trouble.
