MRS. HARGRAVES DEATH
Brandon Times, February 9, 1899

   Mrs. M. Hargraves died at the home of her son, J. E. Hargraves in this city [Brandon], Tuesday morning. Jan. 31, 1899. A little over a week ago she suffered a stroke of apoplexy and she had since been in a serious condition.
   Rachel Eckels has born in Lancastershire, England, April 3, 1819. She married Mr. Matthew Hargraves and came to America on a wedding trip. They decided to remain in this country and for a short time made their home on Racine. They moved to the farm in Metomen, on which they have until recently lived in an early day, and were among the best known residents of this section. Recently they have made their home with the family of their son, John E. Hargraves.
   To Mr. and Mrs. Hargraves have been born nine children, of whom five survive: John E., of this city. Matthew, Calvert and Charles, of Wyoming, and Mrs. Alice Bennit, of Breckenridge, Minn.
   The funeral was held from the home of J. E. Hargraves at 1:30 o'clock Wednesday afternoon, Dr. E. H. Merrell officiating. The remains were interred at the Reeds Corners cemetery.--Ripon Com.
