VOCAL MUSIC TO BE
TAUGHT The school board have made arrangements to have vocal music taught in all departments of our public schools. This is an excellent movement and will add greatly to the value of the course of study. Every true lover of music will rejoice that instruction in vocal music has at last been recognized by the school authorities as deserving a place in the regular course of study. It is planned to give each room two lessons each week throughout the year. Miss Oettiker, the High School assistant is to give this instruction during the present year. It will take several years for full effect of this wise movement to be seen, but in time when those in the lower grades begin to graduate it will secure to Brandon a class of young people conversant with the laws and rules of vocal music, able to take part in public gatherings. This is a move in the right direction and our school board deserve the thanks of the entire community. |
