[TEMPERANCE MEETING]
Brandon Times, July 16, 1874

   The Temperance meeting, at the M. E. Church, Sunday evening, was well attended. The lecture, by Rev. Coburn, was a fine effort, and exhibited acquirements and talent we would not expect in one who had been blind from infancy. After the lecture, Elder Barnum, of Reeds Corners, took the stand, and in his inimitable manner, took up a collection for the lecturer. Either Brandon had an unusually liberal fit on, that evening, or else the Elder is an unusually good collector, as some $13 60 was realized. We lay it to the Elder's little speech.
