FIRE AT CARD GARAGE
Brandon Times, November 17, 1921

The Card Garage narrowly escaped destruction by fire last Wed. While all were gone to supper the cry of fire was heard and bells rung. The rear end of the garage was said to be the place where the fire first started and from a cause unknown. When the doors were opened the place was ablaze. There were four or five cars in the garage including J. W. Laper's fine new sedan, Earl H. Frei's Ford Sedan and a Case car owned by a young man employed by Willie Springborn north of town. The top of his car was burned entirely off. The other cars were damaged more or less. Mr. Laper's receiving the greatest damage.
Several men risked their lives by running the cars out while the flames were playing all around them.
By the aid of fire extinguishers, they soon had the fire under control. The damage, we understand, is fully covered by insurance.
