HEMP FACTORY AT FAIRWATER DESTROYED BY FIRE
Brandon Times, December 9, 1920

The plant of the Miller-Beilke Hemp Factory of FairWater, one of the largest and finest equipped hemp plants in the County was totally destroyed by fire Wed. afternoon December 1st.
The total loss is estimated at between $40,000 and $50,000, partially covered by insurance.
The fire started at 3:30 in one of the dry kilns and spread rapidly from building to building. The only buildings being saved were the warehouse and office. The wind blowing the fire away from them is all that saved them.
The saving of the warehouse was a fortunate one for the Company, for it contained thousands of dollars worth of baled hemp.
We understand that the plant will be rebuilt at once.
