OUR OBSERVATIONS

   Gus Tabbert was in the village on Wednesday.
   Tinkham Bros. for dry, western corn.
   Frank Hein is drawing lumber for his new house.
   Mrs. C. S. Griffith is spending the week in the village.
   Mr. Geo. Lyon of Plainview, Minn., returned to his home Tuesday.
   Tinkham Bros. have just got in another car- load of Wingold flour.
   The train came near getting stalled last Wednesday morning just east of our village.
   Mr. and Mrs. Cease spent Wednesday afternoon with U. L. Johnson and people of Alto.
   Hugo Borne returned home from his western trip where he had been visiting his parents, Wednesday.
   On account of the bad roads very few were in the village the first of the week and business was dull.
   Dr. Hess' stock and poultry panecea are invaluable at this time of the year. At Tinkham Bros.
   C. O. Tinkham was a passenger on the Wednesday afternoon train for Milwaukee, returning Thursday night.
   Mrs. G. C. Alborn, Mrs. O. M. Layton, Mrs. Johnson and Mrs. C. W. Tinkham are on the sick list this week.
   Dr. E. C. Barnes of Ripon, assisted Dr. Layton Tuesday in an operation, removing a tumor on one of Dr. Layton's patients.
   Mr. and Mrs. Josiah Batson went to Ripon the first of the week to attend the funeral of Mrs. Batson's father, Joseph Kingsbury.

   Mr. Butterbrodt suffered an accident which made it necessary for him to go home for a week, and Miss Wallace taught the upper room in his absence.
   The Lutheran Evangelical society are contemplating building a parsonage on their property west of the church the coming summer if sufficient funds can be raised.
   To comply with the new state law banks have been obliged to either reduce their capitalization to the amount of paid in stock or to pay in the balance so that in either case the stock will be fully paid. At a meeting of the stockholders of the Fairwater State Bank some time ago it was voted to pay in the other 40 per cent and make the capitalization $25,000 fully paid Feb. 1, which has been done.
   A party of our young people went out for a sleigh ride Brandonward last Saturday night and with a tip-over in which all of the party were pretty badly covered with snow. Ringing of a cow-bell or something like it let people along the way know they were out. They report a very enjoyable time.
