Fairwater Band, ca. 1920

At the turn of the 20th Century, before radios and film made their debut, nearly every community in Wisconsin featured a community band. Fairwater was no exception, as the photograph above attests. Among the band's activities were village parades. The band also performed regular concerts, which were well attended, as suggested by the following article from the August 17, 1922, Brandon Times:
The band concert last Friday night drew a large crowd. There were auto loads of people from all around FairWater, some from Markesan, Ripon, Green Lake, Brandon, Alto and many other places. The local band was assisted in the concert by members of the Waupun band and the boys rendered an excellent program.
