Card Brothers' Garage, ca. 1921-1925

Ben Card's new garage on Main Street in downtown Jim Town, adjacent to the railroad tracks. The business was established in the early 1920's, when Jesse Laper sold his Fairwater Garage to Alex Laper and Card went into business for himself. On Thursday November 17,1921, The Markesan Herald reported a fire at the garage:

On Wednesday night while the owners and workmen were at supper, fire broke out in the Card Bros. Garage at Fairwater. Prompt action on the part of the village residents, confinel [sic] the fire to five automobiles in the building and part of the interior. Very little damage was done to the building, but the loss on the cars will amount to about $2,000.00.
