Commercial House and Hins Buffet, ca. 1914

Pictured above in a photograph taken about 1914 is the north half of the hotel block in Jim Town, consisting of Charles Hins' Buffet, a tavern, and Commercial House, a hotel. A few years earlier, when the then "Fairwater Hotel" was run by C. C. Cease, the walk in front was still a boardwalk.

Identifiable in the bottom photograph third from the left is Dave Bryden, foreman at the Fairwater Canning Company. To the right of Bryden is Charlie Hins. Second from the right is Ralph Blodgett, owner of the cannery.
