Village Hall, ca. 1930

Pictured above is the Fairwater village hall. The date painted on the front of the building is 1922, one year after the village was incorporated, although it is believed that the building was originally constructed in 1856 as the Free Will Baptist church and was moved to its location from one lot to the east sometime after 1903 when the Baptist church was replaced with a new structure adjacent to the cemetery. Over the years, the village hall served as the fire department, the village libary, a residence for numerous families (note the outside staircase to the second floor), and the Zion Lutheran church parish hall. It was demolished in 1957 to make way for the new Lutheran church.
