1834 Metomen: Commissioner of Public Lands Survey Map

The surveyor's field notes from the original land survey of Fond du Lac County include this sketch of Metomen Township. The area marked in the northwest corner of Metomen signifies the southernmost extension of the Ripon prairie. Round Prairie is outlined in sections 22, 23, 27, 28, and 33. Running east-west across the bottom of the sketch is the route of Wisconsin's Military Road, although Military Road records indicate that this section of the road was not completed until June, 1835, a year after the date of this sketch.
