ACCIDENT NEAR NEW PROSPECT
ALBERT BACKUS LOSES LIFE IN DEPLORABLE ACCIDENT YESTERDAY

A most distressing accident happened on the Herman Jandre farm near New Prospect, about 10 o'clock Wednesday morning, when Albert Bachus lost his life, The young man was working with a woodsawing crew and in attempting to slip a belt over a revolving pulley, his arm became caught and was drawn into the belt, breaking it in such a manner, between the elbow and shoulder, that the bones protruded through the flesh. He also sugffered a fracture at the base of the skull, by being thrown against the frame of the machine, it is believed. The injured man was carried to the home of W. J. Romaine, in New Prospect, and Dr. Weld of this village and Dr. Hausmann of Kewaskum summoned, who upon their arrival made the young man as comfortable as possible, but he could not survive shock and died at about 7 o'clock that evening.
The deceased is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Bachus, residing near New Fane. He was about 20 years of age and at the time of the accident was in the employ of Herman Bauman.
