STROKE FATAL TO MRS. BUMP
PIONEER RESIDENT SUCCUMBS TO PARALYTIC STROKE
MONDAY MORNING
Mrs. Margaret Bump, a pioneer resident
and highly esteemed woman of this community, died at her home in this village Monday
morning at 1:30 o'clock. Mrs. Bump suffered a stroke of paralysis Thuesday morning,
December 14th, and gradually grew weaker until death relieved her from her sufferings.
Margaret Burnett was born in New York City, August 30, 1840. She immigrated
to Wisconsin with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Burnett in 1853, settling in this
vicinity where the greater part of her life was spent. She was baptised and united with
the Baptist church in 1864 and remained a faithful member until the day of her death. She
was united in marriage to Lorenze Bump, June 15, 1873, and quickly won a place in the
affections of her husband's children, seldom occupied by any but a own mother. She was
always ready to ministeo to the full extend of her power to those that were in distress
and her sympathetic heart and loving helpful hands won for her a large circle of warm
friends. Of a sunny, cheerful disposition, she seldom allowed fret and worry to disturb
her life.
Mrs. Bump is survived by two step-children, FRanklin M. Bump of this village,
and Mrs. Hattie M. Morgan of Virginia, Minn., four brothers, Robert, Edward and George
Burnett of Clark county, and C. F. Burnett of this village, two sisters, Mrs. Kathryn
Tuttle, New Prospect and Mrs. Jos. Parret of this village.
The funeral services were held at 1:30 o'clock Wednesday afternoon from the
Baptist church, the pastor, Rev. J. W. Taylor officiating. Interment took place in the
Union cemetery.

GERTRUDE FERBER
Mrs. Gertrude Ferber, aged 47 years, wife of W. H. Ferber, a former resident
of town Auburn, doed at her home in Colgate, Wis., lastThursday morning after a lingering
illness.
The funeral services were held Saturday afternoon from the family residence
at Colgate and interment took place in St. John's cemetery at Plat Wis.
Besides her husband, Mrs. Ferber is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Mary Clos
of Milwaukee, Mrs. Matthew Staus of Lake Five, and Miss Kate Casper of Colgate.
Mr. Ferber arrived Monday evening and will remain here with relatives until
after the holidays. |
