VILLAGE DEAD

STUART CAMPBELL DIES AT HIS HOME HERE

   Stuart Campbell, aged 93, the oldest resident of Campbellsport and after whom the village was named, died Wednesday afternoon at one o'clock at the old homestead, the home of his son, William, one and one-half miles west of this village.
   Mr. Campbell was born in County Derry, Ireland, Sept. 4, 1817. His father was a farmer and he followed that occupation throughout the greater part of his life.
   In 1841 Mr. Campbell sailed for America. He first located in Orange County, N. Y., where he secured work on a canal, and for nine years made his home there. He came to this county in 1850 and settled on the farm where he died, having made his home there ever since.
   On September 30, 1848, he was united in marriage to Mill Julia Southard. Twelve children were born to them, six of whom are still living. They are William of Ashford, Edward of this village, Charles of South Dakota, Robert and James of Iowa and one daughter, Mrs. Ira Brown of the Isle of Pines. Mrs. Campbell, wife of the diceased died three years ago last May.
   The funeral will be held from the Methodist church here next Saturday morning at 10 o'clock, Rev. W. J. Corr will officiate.
