ARE MARRIED 25 YEARS
MR. AND MRS. OTTO DICKMANN CELEBRATE SILVER WEDDING FRIDAY
Mr. and Mrs. Otto Dickmann marked the
completion of a quarter century of married life, by a proper observance of the occasion at
their pleasant home in the town of Auburn, last Friday afternoon and evening.
Mr. Dickmann is a native of Germany, being born in Berlin, October 21, 1858,
and came to the town of Auburn, with his parents when he was seven years of age. Elizabeth
Schrooten was born in the town of Auburn, December 13, 1863. Their marriage ceremony was
solemnized at the home of Mrs. Dickman's [sic] parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry
Schrooten, on January 18, 1889, the Rev. Rusterbolz of Wayne officiating.
After their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Dickmann began housekeeping on a farm, and
their labors have been rewarded to the extent that today they are the owners of one of the
best farms in the township, and have a home, equipped with all the conveniences for modern
farm life.
The silver wedding celebration Friday took the form of a reunion of
relatives, friends and neighbors, about 250 guests being present. The afternoon was passed
in pleasant conversation, recalling the happenings of the past years. At five o'clock a
bounteous supper was served, under the supervision of Mrs. Peter Terlinden and Miss Rose
Harter, who were assisted by Mrs. John Uelmen, Mrs. Gustave Dickman [sic], Mrs. T.
Remmel [?], Miss L. Terlinden and Miss Katherine Terlinden.
The evening was given over to dancing, the music being furnished by the J.
HarterString band and J. Honeib's [?] Concertina orchestra.
The house was tastefully decorated with carnations, smilax and silver tissue,
which mingled in to a most charming effect.
The union of Mr. and Mrs. Dickman [sic] was blessed with three sons,
Henry, Fred and Emil and three daughters, Alana, Rose and Gertrude, all of whom reside in
the family home and were present at the celebration.
