HERMAN DUNN'S FACTORY BURNS
A cheese factory with living quarters
combined, owned by Herman Dunn and situated in the town of Eldorado, about three miles
northwest of the village of Eldorado, was completely destroyed by fire Sunday afternoon.
The blaze was first discovered at 1:15 o'clock at a time when all of the men of the
neighborhood were at a distance attending a funeral. Mrs. Dunn was also absent from home.
Glenn Newton, a boy employed at the factory, was engaged in handling the
day's milk, when his attention was called to the fire. Sparks from the chimney it is
believed started the blaze. Cheese which had been made and which was curing was taken out
of the building, but the remainder of the contents including Dunn's household furniture
and clothes were destroyed. The loss it is reported is entirely covered by insurance.
Mr. Dunn until several years ago operated the cheese factory at Waucousta,
when he sold out to O. W. Barteit. He then moved to Eldorado. |
