DEATH CLAIMS TWO OLD SETTLERS
MRS. FLANNAGAN AND MRS. SCHEID ARE CALLED TO THE
GREAT BEYOND
The death of Mrs. Margaret Flannagan,
aged 75, occured at 5:25 o'clock Friday evening at her home in the village of Eden,
following a lingering illness.
The deceased was born in County Deathe, Ireland, February 1, 1842, and came
to America with her parents when nine years old, settling in Richfield, Wis. She was
married to John Flannagan in Manitowoc, and in 1867 they purchased a farm in the town of
Osceola, where they lived until a year ago, when they moved to Eden.
Mrs. Flannagan is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Henry Voght of Byron, and
Mrs. Margaret Flannagan of Eden; three sons, John of Eden, Michael of Campbellsport, and
J. P. Flannagan of Cascade.
The funeral; was held Monday morning at ten o'clock, from St. Mary's church
in Eden, the Rev. Father McFarland officiated and interment tool place in the Eden
cemetery.
Mr. and Mrs. Herman Hussman, Mrs. T. N. Curran and daughter Mary, Mrs. James
Ward, Robert Rahling and John Flaherty from here attended the funeral services.
The pallbearers were Gustave Cosgrove, Thomas Scannell, James Fuller, William
Norges, J. M. Stack, and H. F. Martin. Members of the Altar societies of Our Lady of
Angels, and St. Mary's churches, of which the deceased was a member, attended the funeral
in a body. The funeral was largely attended, and the floral offerings were large and
beautiful.
MRS. PETER SCHEID
Mrs. Peter Scheid, aged 55 years, and a highly esteemed resident of town
Ashford, died at her home there Sunday at mid-night, after a lingering illness with
cancer.
Mrs. Scheid is survived by her husband, and three sons, Edward of Town
Ashford, Arthur and Ewald, at home, and one brother, G. C. Harder, also of town Ashford.
The funeral services were held Wednesday morning at 9:30 from the home, and
at 10:30 from the German Reformed church at Elmore. Rev. Siegmund Romeis officiated and
interment took place in the congregations cemetery near Elmore.
The pallbearers were Henry Seering, John Wenzel, Charles Vohs, William
Ferber, Charles Behnke and C. R. Van De Zande. The local camp, Royal Neighbors of America,
of which Mrs. Scheid was a member, attended the funeral services in a body, and conducted
the ritualistic services at the home and grave. |
