Mrs. Flood Killed in Auto Accident
Wife of Prominent Eden Farmer Meets
Sudden Death Returning from Fond du Lac
One of the saddest and most deplorable
accidents that has visited this community for sometime, took place last Saturday afternoon
at about 5 o'clock, when Mrs. Thomas Flood, aged 56 years, wife of a well known town of
Eden farmer, was killed and her son Isadore, and a neighbor, Mrs. William Ryan, were
slightly injured, when the Ford car in which they were riding, struck a rut in the road
and turned over, just south of Calvary cemetery near Fond du Lac, on the Campbellsport
state highway.
When pick up it was first thought that Mrs. Flood was still alive and she was
rushed to St. Agnes hospital where an examination showed that she was dead and that her
neck was broken.
Mrs. Flood, her son and Mrs. Ryan were returning to their home from Fond du
Lac, when the accident occured. They had been in that city throughout the afternoon,
puchasing wedding clothes for Isadore, who was making preparations for his marriage which
took place Tuesday morning to Miss Mary Kaehne of North Ashford.
According to the story told by Mrs. Ryan, they had just passed Calvary
cemetery and were near the Fitzgerald home on the state road, when the accident occurred.
Mrs. Ryan said that Isadore was driving slowly at the time. In turning out for another
car, which was coming toward them, the Flood auto struck a rut in the road. The young man
lost control of the wheel and the car turned over on its side in the ditch.
Mrs. Flood was sitting on the left hand side of the car when it went over and
it is believed that she was struck on the back of the neck. Mrs. Flood sustained only a
few slight bruises about her head.
Mrs. Ryan was slightly bruided about her face, head and left side and was
also taken to the hospital, but later went to the home of her son, William Ryan, 72 Adams
street, in Fond du Lac, and from there was removed to her home a short distance south of
Eden.
Isadore Flood received minor injuries about the head and arm.
Mrs. Flood who was born February 7, 1860, had resided in Fond du Lac county
for many years. She is survived by a widower, two sons, Francis and Isadore, at home, her
aged mother, Mrs. Rose Clark of Fond du Lac, three sisters, Mrs. Mary Harlin and Miss
Theresa Clark also of Fond du Lac, Mrs. N. Cosgrove of Eden, and three brothers, Thomas
