FIFTY YEARS
HOME OF HIGHLY ESTEEMED COUPLE OF TOWN EDEN IS
SCENE OF FAMILY REUNION
Mr. and Mrs. Peter Flood, Sr.,
celebrated their golden wedding last Sunday at their home in the town of Eden. their
fiftieth wedding anniversary was June 26, 1915, but owing to certain inconveniences at
that time, the observation of the event was postponed until last Sunday.
The celebration was in the form of a family re-union and their seven children
and respective families where present on this occasion. At noon a a bountiful family
dinner was served, the afternoon was pleasantly spent in recalling happy family events and
at six o'clock a most delicious supper was was enjoyed by the guests.
Peter Flood was born in Ireland during the year 1838, he came to America in
1848. Anna Lloyd was born in the state of New York seventy-two years ago, and became the
bride of Mr. Flood in June 26, 1865.
Since then they have resided on their present farm in South Eden. Mr. Flood
is one of the most popular old settlers in the county. During the pioneer days he taught
school, when not employed on the farm, he has served a number of terms as a member of
county board and was instrumental in in the organization of the Ashford Mutual Fire
Insurance company, of which he is president. Mrs. Flood is a favorite among her associates
and through the business connections of her husband enjoys a large acquaintance throughout
the county.
Seven children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Flood, they are: George H. and
Edward Flood and Mrs. T. L. Flanagan of Eden; Mrs. John Dyer and Mrs. John Salter of
Byron; Dr. Robert Emmett Flood of St. Cloud and Morise Flood at home. They also have
twenty-one grand-children, all of whom were present at the family re union last Sunday. |
