DEATH OF
OLD SETTLERS
PIONEERS ARE CALLED TO THE
GREAT BEYOND DURING THE PAST WEEK
Phillip Haessly, aged 87
years, passed away Tuesday morning, December 8, at 8 o'clock at his home in Auburndale.
Mr. Haessly was born in Pittsburgh, Penn., in 1827. He came to Wisconsin and
settled in the town of Ashford where he lived on the farm now owned by Mrs. Anna Straub,
until 1900. After leaving Ashford he took up his residence in the town of Auburndale and
remained there until the time of his death. He is survived by a widow and twelve children:
Joseph of Merrill, Wis.; Anthony and Charles of Fond du Lac; William of Kaukauna; John,
Henry and Thomas of of Auburndale; Mary of Campbellsport; Mrs. Peter Peas, Oakes, North
Dakota; Mrs. Peter Dreikosen, Elmore; Mrs. Mike Maul of Kaukauna and Mrs. John Verbinski
of Sherry, Wis. Three brothers and one sister also survive him. They are Jacob Haessly,
Theresa; Abraham of Kensington, Ohio; and Mrs. Sarah Moister of Milfort, Ohio.
The funeral services were held Thursday morning at 8 o'clock from St. Mary's
church, interment taking place in Auburndale cemetery.
The pall bearers were: A. Haessly, Charles Haessly, William Haessly, Henry
Haessly, Thomas Haessly and Mike Maul.
Mrs. Peter Dreikbaen and Miss Mary Haessly from here attended the funeral. |
