HAIL DESTROYS
CROPS
The storm and hail, which
visited the eastern part of the county last Saturday, did great damage to crops,
especially between Campbellsport and Dundee, where hundreds of acres of crops were totally
demolished by the hail.
John Rinzel, Michael Tunn, Michael Polzean, Bernard Doyle and Ralph Romaine,
are reported to have lost their entire crops of grain, corn and potatoes, all of which was
pounded into a pulp through the heavy fall of hail.
Other farmers in that vicinity lost from ten to twenty acres of standing
crops and it is estimated that hundreds of acres in the county will not return seed grain
this year.
During the storm Saturday, lightening also killed a cow on the August Lade
farm, and John Bohlman reports the loss of a valuable cow through lightening striking the
animal while in the pasture Saturday afternoon. |
