ONLY ONE MAN LEAVES WEDNSEDAY
OSCAR HORNBURG FROM CAMPBELLSPORT DISTRICT REPORTS FOR SERVICE WEDNESDAY

Oscar A. Hornburg, Route 29, was the only man from the Campbellsport district to leave for Camp Grant cantonment Wednesday.
Arthur Vohs, was recently exempted; Steve Fuller was given an extention of time until December 1, 1917; Nicholas M. Mauel, C. E. Burnett and Earl B. Johnson were called as alternates but were excused after the second districts quota was filled by the men in the regular call, all of whom reported for service at Ripon Tuesday afternoon.
There were twenty-four honor men from Fond du Lac county's second district, who left Ripon Wednesday morning at 8 o'clock over the Chicago and North Western road for Camp Grant Wednesday, were given a hearty sendoff to by the citizens of Ripon and the delegates of the Dodge County Veterans' association, which met at the College city Tuesday.
A large parade, composed of members of various societies and military organizations, escorted the honor men from the headquarters of the local board at Ripon to the North Western depot. The Wisconsin Drum corps of Milwaukee played a prominent part in the farewell demonstration.
Letters from the various boys at the cantonments indicate that they are getting to be real soldier boys. From Camp GRant we hear that Adolph Ullrich, a former member of Hoffmann's Band of this village, has been made a member of the regimental band, and Anton J. Hilbert, formerly a tonsorial artist of Campbellsport, has been assigned a position in the barber's barracks of the cantonment camp.
Note the change in address for Albert Sturm. Albert's folks had a letter from him last week and he reports in it that all of the U. S. boys in France are in excellent condition. The only thing short is tobacco and more news from home. Another instance where you can do a good turn.
And don't forget to drop a card or letter to Oscar. The first week is usually the most lonesome one for the boys. We have not received his company number, but the following address will reach him: Oscar A. Hornburg, From Fond du Lac County Oct 3rd. Camp Grant, Rockford, Ill.
