FIRE DESTROYS HOWARD HOME
RESIDENCE IS TOTALLY CONSUMED BY FLAMES SATURDAY NIGHT

Fire which is thought to have been started by a spark from the kitchen stove, totally destroyed the residence of Alfred Howard, two miles west of this village, Saturday night.
The blaze was discovered shortly after ten o'clock by Mr. Howard, who was awakened by the smoke, which filled his bedroom. He awakened the rest of the family and all escaped without injury.
Neighboring farmers and the fire department from here were called, and they saved part of the furniture. The blaze had made considerable headway when it was discovered and the men were unable to control the flames. They saved the barn and other buildings on the farm.
The loss, estimated at $3,500, is covered by insurance to the extend of $2,100.
Mr. Howard stated that he will begin rebuilding as soon as arrangements can be made.
