JAEGER'S FACTORY BURNS
Tuesday afternoon about 1:30 o'clock
fire was discovered in the B. W. Jaegers' cheese factory, about three miles west of the
village, on the Ashford road and before help could be obtained the building and most of
the contents were destroyed. Owing to the fact that many of the neighbors were attending
the war relic exhibition in this village, the fire had gained considerable headway before
being discovered.
Word was sent here for help and the Campbellsport Volunteer Fire Department
and chemical responded, and succeeded in saving the warehouse in which a large amount of
cheese was stored. The loss on the building and contents is estimated about $4,000, partly
covered by insurance in the Ashford Fire Insurance Company. The factory had just been
newly painted and repaired by Henry Jaeger, who had charge of the factory for his father,
and therefore the loss falls more heavily. It will be rebuilt at once.
B. W. Jaeger wishes to express his sincere thanks to the Campbellsport
Volunteer Firemen and all his neighbors, who so kindly responded and assisted to fight the
fire and save what property they could. He wishes to assure them their help was
appreciated.
