MANY ATTEND
HOMECOMING
HUNDREDS OF LOCAL PEOPLE ATTEND CELEBRATION AT
KEWASKUM SUNDAY
The biggest crown in the history of
Kewaskum gathered last Sunday when the annual homecoming celebration took place. It is
estimated that nearly 6,000 people attended the homecomers' picnic in the North side park
during the afternoon, while many remained downtown, where attractions in the form of
amusing concessions were lined up along the streets.
The automobile parade in the morning was one of the big attractions. The
prize for the best decorated car was awarded to Roebken Bros. of Cedarburg first and Elmo
Rosenheimer second.
The celebration closed with the homecomers' dance in which nearly 1,500
people participated.
Approximately 600 people from here attended the celebration. Over 200 tickets
to Kewaskum were sold at the Northwestern depot Saturday and Sunday and hundreds of
residents from this vicinity drove in autos and carriages to the celebration, in fact we
were so well represented at the picnic that a young man from Kewaskum remarked:
"Campbellsport has more of her people at our picnic, than we have of our own."
This was a fact, but probably excuseable for many Kewaskum people were compelled to remain
at their homes and business places to entertain or work for the entertainment of their
many guests. However, we hope that Kewaskum folks will remember our liberal patronage and
that we apprecite reciprocation.
