IGNATIUS KLOTZ
DIED MONDAY
WAS PROMINENT IN POLITICS FOR MANY YEARS
Mr. Ignatius Klotz, Sr., one of
the most highly esteemed and respected citizens of this village, died at his home here at
4:15 Monday afternoon. He had not been in good health for several years, and last Thursday
evening suffered a stroke, soon becoming unconscious, and so remained until death came.
Mr. Klotz was born in Tyrol, Austria, November 25, 1842, being 68 years, 2
months and 25 days old atr the time of death. When six years of age he came to America,
coming to Fond du Lac county with his father on September 9, 1848, and settling in the
town of Eden, where he lived until 1889, since which time he has been a resident of
Campbellsport.
The deceased held various offices, being elected Assemblyman in 1880, and was
chosen state senator in 1884, he was chairman of the town of Eden for ten years, also
chairman of the town of Ashford for a term of eight years. He was president of the
Campbellsport Mutual Fire Insurance Company from the time of its organization in 1895,
until the time of his death.
Mr. Klotz was married to Miss Maria Wenzel, December 29, 1882, who together
with two sons and three daughters are left to mourn him. The children are Marquis on the
old home-stead in the town of Eden, Ignatius, Jr., Estella, Olive and Irene at home; one
brother Nicholas of the town of Eden, and three sisters, Mrs. Joseph Serwe and Mrs. Geo.
Lloyd, of Fond du Lac and Mrs. J. P. Husting of Campbellsport are the other relatives. He
was a good husnband and kind father, and in the death of Mr. Klotz the village loses one
of the best citizens and the community a great benefactor.
The funeral was held this morning.
