Hand Seriously Burned

Paul Krueger, proprietor of the Star Hotel barber shop, seriously burned his left hand Saturday morning while extinguishing a fire in his shop which had started from an over flow of gasoline from the tank of the hot water apparatus.
About seven o'clock when Mr. Krueger was making preparations for the day's work he held a lighted match to the burner of the water heater and immediately the entire apparatus was enveloped in flames. In the attempt to throw the burning tank into the street, he was hindered by being unable to open the door, while all this time the burning gasoline was running over his hand in which he held the apparatus.
Michael Thelen, owner of the Star Hotel, assisted him in getting the burning mass out of the building and extinguish the flames which were making rapid headway along the wainscoating of the barber shop.
Although Mr. Krueger carries marks of the accident on both hands, the more severe wounds extend along the thumb, first and second fingers of the left hand, which were dressed by Dr. Weld immediately after the accident.
