DIES OF HER INJURIES
Mrs. Christina Mathieu, aged 62, who was
shot and seriously wounded by her husband, John Mathieu, a Kewaskum painter, on Tuesday of
last week at the home of her sister, Mrs. August Grissman, at Fond du Lac, died shortly
after 10 o'clock Monday morning at St. Agnes hospital, where she has been confined since
the day of the shooting.
A post mortem was performed by physicians and the bullet was found lodged in
the woman's back. The missile had passed through the right lung and infection followed.
District Attorney L. J. Fellenz expects to issue a warrant for manslaughter
against John Mattieu, the husband, as soon as the latter is able to leave the hospital.
Mathieu's condition is greatly improved and his chances for recovery are excellent.
Besides her husband, who is confined to St. Agnes hospital recovering from
wounds he inflicted upon himself, Mrs. Mathieu leaves three sisters, Mrs. Kate Schneider
of Chicago, Mrs. August Grissman of Fond du Lac, and Miss Clara Snyder of La Porte, Ind. |
