NOW HAVE A MODEL BUILDING
MR. AND MRS. F. O. BRIGGS OF EDEN HAVE MOVED INTO
THEIR NEW HOME
Mr. and Mrs. F. O. Briggs
have moved into their new store and residence which was just completed for them in the
village of Eden, and which is a model building in every respect.
The structure is a two-story, 40x80, frame building with stone basement,
lighted with an Edison Battery electric light system, which was installed by L. A. Briggs
of Fond du Lac. Bresnahan & Dugan, also of Fond du Lac, are now applying the finishing
touches to their work of installing a Vapor Heating plant and an air pressure water
system, which furnishes running water throughout the entire building.
In the basement are located the heating and light plants, pressure tank and
gas engine, all of which occupy about one-fourth of the space, the remainder of the
basement is used for reserve stock. On the main floor are the store and post-office. The
latter is separated from the store by an encasement of beautifully finished cherry wood,
with mirror and frosted glass panels. The store fixtures are also dark hardwood finished,
while the woodwork and shelving in the store are a light Georgia pine, the two contrast
having a pleasing effect.
From the main floor an oak staircase leads to the living apartments above.
One enters the reception hall, where four oak pillars support the grills over the
entrances to the living room and the parlor. These rooms, the dining room and guest's
chamber, are all finished in dark oak. Besides these rooms there are three bed-rooms, a
sun parlor, bath and an exceptionally nicely equipped kitchen, thus giving Mr. and Mrs.
Briggs a store and residence equal in conveniences to any modern city building. |
