MEMORIAL SERVICE

  Memorial services for the late Private John R. Petermann who was reported killed in France, were conducted at New Fane last Sunday afternoon. Rev. F. Gutekunst, the pastor of the congregation, conducted the services and delivered a sermon touching upon the heroic deeds of the young man on leaving home and loved ones and going fourth to fight for his country.
   The 28th Separate Company, W. S. G. R., of Campbellsport, attended in a body ands assisted in the exercises at the cemetery, firing a salute and sounding taps.
   In the death of Private Peterman the first gold star was placed on the service flag of the New Fane Lutheran congregation, which now contains 1 gold, 2 red and 3 blue stars, indicating a death, two overseas soldiers and three others who are training in this country.
