STORK HAS BUSY YEAR
VISITS OVER 1,100 FAMILIES IN THE COUNTY DURING PAST ELEVEN MONTHS
Births far exceed deaths in the county
according to the vital statistics given out by the register of deeds this week relating to
the eleven months so far this year.
There were 668 deaths in the county during the eleven months, the largest
occuring in January, when eighty-eight persons answered the summons of the grim reaper. On
the other hand, the stork visited county families 1,143 times during the same period, the
greatest number of visits being during the month of May, when 135 children were born.
Marriages were unable to keep up the pace set by the other two divisions of
the register's record book, and a total of only 397 unions was reported. June, of course,
was the most popular with fifty-five, although October came a close second with
fifty-three.
