- Visited Senior Center in Rugby; made Rugby salsa with Lila Brossart, Dawn Nelson, Helen Trottier, and Dan Volk; toured Salyer Wildlife Refuge with Wanda Nielsen and Sally Selland; attended cattle auction in Sale Barn at Rugby; attended Eagle's Club Bingo with Vickie Hoffart; and toured outlying areas of Pierce County.
- Interviews with Don Sobolik, Lila Brossart, Magdalina Miller, Elizabeth Miltenberger, and Eva Voeller.

- Drove length of the far edge of the middle west, from the geographic center of the North American continent to the geographic center of the lower 48 states, made notes for an essay.

- Attended Maysville's Country Harvest Festival variety show; walked the midway; attended Saturday night dance; took in both days of Artie May Thorton estate auction.
- Interviews with Maysville residents: John Murphy, Donald and Neva Raynor, Margaret Delaney, Helen Netherton, Juanita Miller Gilbert (notes), and Mildred Magee (notes).


October, 2003
- Coffee with the boys in West Point, Nebraska, at Bud's on Monday, Oct. 20th, and Friday, October 24th.
- Tour of West Point with Gwen Lindberg.
- Started tour of Main Street West Point with Dick Lindberg.
- Tour of Wimmers Meat Products plant in West Point.
- Obtained copies of Harry Knobbe interviews with George Wimmer and Harold Wimmer.
- Interviews with Dick Lindberg, Gwen Lindberg, Matt Orand, Joe Langemeier, Dr. Christine Rogness, Tom Kelly, and Dave Wimmer.

- Visited Emmetsburg, Iowa; toured Graettinger, Iowa, and countryside thereabouts.
