WURNTF Minutes
September 24, 2002
I. Roll Call
Members Present: Judy Scheehle, Joe DeRose, Mark Weaver,
Ruby West Jackson, Jason Josvai, David McKay, Katie Pink, and Shawn Graff
II. Minutes
- Agenda was approved.
- Minutes of July 25, 2002 were approved.
- Mission, vision and goals were finalized. It was decided
that the name of our organization be Underground Railroad of Wisconsin
Network to Freedom or UGRR of WI for short.
- Katie Pink project was discussed. She will work on developing
a Wisconsin trail system of UGRR sites.
- Legislative update. Shawn reported a favorable reception
from the public policy committee endorsing statewide legislation in
support of UGRR of WI, NTF. He will meet with Mark Petronsky to draft
the legislation. Shawn has also met with Senator Gwen Moore to assist
with this. The legislation should provide a partnership with the U.W.
system as well as provide a five year plan to hire a director and support
staff.
- Next meeting of the WURNTF will be on November 1, 2002
at 10:00 a.m. at the Wisconsin Historical Society, 816 State St., Madison.
The meeting will be held in the Sellery Room.
