December 5, 2002
I. Roll Call
Members Present: David McKay, Joe DeRose, Mark Weaver, Walter
T. McDonald, Sue Schlueter, Katie Pink, and Shawn Graff
II. Minutes
- Agenda was approved.
- Minutes of November 1, 2002 were approved.
- Katie Pink explained her progress to date. She has identified
three potential trail routes in southeast Wisconsin. She will design
a plan specifically for Spring Prairie. Walter McDonald has identified
several sites associated with Joshua Glover that could also be used
for a trail. Details will be posted on the UGRR of WI web site.
- Shawn Graff explained the status of draft legislation
for the Underground Railroad of Wisconsin Network to Freedom act. On
December 16th, he will present an outline of the legislation to the
Wisconsin Trust for Historic Preservation Public Policy Committee.
- A spring meeting of the UGRR of WI will be held. All attendees
of the original Milwaukee NTF meeting will be invited. The meeting will
probably be held in Racine to coincide with the dedication of a NTF
marker at Monument Square.
- Next meeting of the UGRR of WI will be on January 24,
2003 at 1:00 p.m. at the Wisconsin Historical Society, 816 State St.,
Madison. The meeting will be held in the Murphy Board Room on the 3rd
floor.
